About us

Long-established and hugely experienced

Since 1888...

Concrete Valley can trace its roots back as far as 1888, when a cement factory called Waning & Co was established in Rotterdam. With the trading name abbreviated to Waco, this company still stands at the heart of Concrete Valley. In 1979 a company called Ferrocem was founded. Ferrocem manufactured high-end yachts made from lightweight concrete. Virtually indestructible, many of these yachts continue to sail the world today.

In 1998, Microbeton was established. It took inspiration from Ferrocem and became the first company to specialise in manufacturing building products from High Performance Concrete (HPC). The ability to span wider gaps with lightweight structural concrete elements revolutionised the way concrete was used in construction. Then in 2012, Waco, Microbeton and Ferrocem joined forces and became Concrete Valley. To begin with, each company continued to trade independently with Concrete Valley taking on the role of coordinators, providing project management and installation services to create a turnkey offering.

In 2014, what started as a spin off from Microbeton became a valuable asset in its own right. MbX became specialists in the production of geometrically complex elements from GRC and HPC, and the demand for their expertise has grown rapidly since their inception. Today, Concrete Valley is a single business that combines the complementary skills and capabilities from each of these businesses that were successful in their own right. By amalgamating this wealth of experience and knowledge, and by supporting innovation and growth with the necessary investment, Concrete Valley is a unified business that is going from strength to strength.

Elements of mbX, Waco and Microbeton are since 2017 sold, supervised and installed in the UK by Concrete Valley ltd projects.

In 2023 emerges Ferrocem, manufacturer of durable and releaseable balconies.

Complex and ambitious projects

As the recognised innovators in the industry, Concrete Valley are often chosen as preferred suppliers for the more complex and ambitious projects. Not only do we have the necessary expertise to find robust solutions to the most daunting challenges, we also have the resource and manufacturing capability to supply large scale construction and civil engineering projects too.

Whether a project calls for structural, functional or aesthetic elements, if they’re made from precast concrete, the chances are that we can help. From GRC rainscreen façade elements and ceilings to brick-faced GRC, cladding, offshore platforms, bridges, canopies, HPC balconies, cantilevered walkways and more, we have a wealth of project experience and industry-leading expertise.

Distinctiveness, integrity and respect

At Concrete Valley, we share a drive and ambition to be the best at what we do. Through innovation and hard work, we have developed industry-leading products and processes that deliver real benefits to our customers. Whilst our work is often entrepreneurial and exciting, we never forget about our commitment to offer the very best customer service to our clients. Doing the simple things well – like regular communication with our customers and working with integrity – is just as important as finding an innovative solution for a project. We have a hard-earned reputation for crafting distinctive products of the highest quality and offering exceptional customer service. The culture of our business is built around distinctiveness, integrity and respect for people. We enjoy our work and we are proud of the products we create and the service we offer.

Independently accredited

We recognise the need to manage our business and supply chain efficiently. As full members of the International Glass-fibre Reinforced Concrete Association (GRCA), we have been independently assessed as having sufficient resources in plant, equipment and labour to consistently design and manufacture high quality GRC in accordance with the GRCA full member regulations. Concrete Valley is proud to have been recognised by the Concrete Sustainability Council for its responsible sourcing and supply chain management. The concrete Valley Group has also been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 accreditation for its quality management system.

Experienced and responsive team

We have an experienced and responsive team based in the UK who are on hand to provide all the support you need. Our manufacturing plant is in the Netherlands – in Bergen Op Zoom, which is a well-connected coastal city between Rotterdam and Antwerp. Whilst most of our projects have been in Europe, we have supplied precast concrete elements as far afield as Singapore and welcome enquiries for projects anywhere and everywhere.

How can we help?

Whether you’re an architect, contractor, developer, consultant, engineer or client, if you think we might be able to help with your next project, we’d be really pleased to hear from you. The earlier we are involved in a project, the better it is for everyone.
